Rowing is one
of the fastest growing sports in the
country.
Rowing has been called the most
physiologically demanding of aerobic sports, as it demands endurance,
strength, and the ability to tolerate a great amount of pain. You will
be in the best shape of your life!
More so than almost any sport,
rowing is a team sport. Crew teams develop friendships that can last a
lifetime.

Registration

Dues
SJRC
is not funded by the school districts. We are a
non-profit organization funded solely through participation fees,
charitable donations, and fundraising.

Uniforms
All
rowers are required to have a unisuit and a racing shirt. Additional
clothing such as t-shirts, shorts, sweats, caps, jackets, duffels are
optional. You will be notified by e-mail about clothing campaigns
and order deadlines.

Practice
and
Regatta Schedule
Winter Indoor Season:
Practice
begins the first Saturday in December for
the spring season. During
the winter months, practice in inside at our training facility and
consists of a combination of ergometers workouts, wieght training and
circuit training. Flexibility in scheduling is allowed for rowers competing in a winter sport.
Rowers will be evaluated based on a predetermined selection criteria
during the winter season and will receive points for their
achievements. Rowers receiving more than 85 points will be
eligible to row during the Spring season.

Spring Season on the water
In March we begin training on the Cooper River.
Practice is 6 days per week. On weekdays practice is from
about 4:00 - 6:30 pm. On weekends, when not racing, practice
schedules vary depending on whether you are varsity, jv or novice, but
are generally during the morning.
All rowers are expected
to attend every practice. If you are not there, your boat cannot row.
