SJRC Middle School Programs

  • Coed program open to students in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade.
  • Program focuses on technical instruction, while developing fitness.
  • Runs two nights per week in the Spring and Fall Seasons.  Multiple sessions are offered throughout the Summer.
  • No makeup dates will be held.  Days it is raining, too windy, or conditions don't allow boats on the water practice will be run indoors.
  • Wear athletic clothes, sneakers, and bring a refillable water bottle.  DISPOSABLE WATER BOTTLES are not permitted. Do not wear baggy clothes (top or bottom) as it will interfere with the equipment.
  • All rowers must pass a swim test.

SPRING 2022 MIDDLE SCHOOL ROWING

Registration is closed.  Please check back in May for Summer Program information.

March 1st - May 5, 2022
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 - 7:45 P.M.
(middle school students with no prior rowing experience must also register for at least one two week Indoor Training Session)

Cost:  $1,250.00 (non-refundable)

Optional Indoor Training (Cost $250/session)
Each session is two weeks.  Open to all middle school students.  Students signed up for the Spring season with no rowing experience must register for at least one Indoor Training Session.

    Session 1:  February 1st - February 10, 2022 (Tues & Thurs, 6-7:45 P.M.)
    Session 2:  February 15th - February 24, 2022 (Tues & Thurs, 6-7:45 P.M.)

 

Winter Training Discounts
Sessions 1 AND 2 and Spring Middle School - $250 discount:  Total $1,500.00

Sessions 1 OR 2 and Spring Middle School - $100 discount:  Total $1,400.00

 

Our Spring Middle School program is open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.  This is a non-competitive program.  Athletes will learn boat handling, rowing and racing technique (both in boats and on the erg), teamwork, fitness and safety.  Spring practices will start indoors and continue indoors until the Boathouse reopens for the spring season and water/air temperatures and conditions are safe.  No experience is necessary.  Indoor Training and inclement weather practices are held at 7905 Browning Road, Suite 202, Pennsauken (across the street from the Boathouse).  On-the-water practices will be at the Camden County Boathouse on the Cooper River, 7050 North Park Drive, Pennsauken, N.J. 08109.

Registration must be completed by a Parent or Guardian.  Only athletes with completed registrations and a verified swim form/test will be permitted in a boat.

Swim Test:  All athletes should know how to swim and be comfortable around the water.  For those that have not previously completed a swim test at SJRC or have a signed form on file, please click the link below for our swim test form and have it completed/signed by a certified swim coach or lifeguard.  Meeting our swim requirements through alternative means such as signed proof of swim team participation or a copy of an athlete’s valid lifeguard certification are also acceptable.  Please submit a completed copy of the certificate form 

Refunds:  There will be no refunds unless a sickness or injury occurs. Refunds must be promptly requested by contacting SJRC via email here. A $50.00 processing fee will be applied.  If a program is cancelled by SJRC, full refunds will be issued.
