Racing Team

The SJRC Racing team is open to high school students (9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade) and runs year-round.   Middle School Students may be invited to join the racing team on a case by case basis.

  • Spring Season:  Begins in mid-December with indoor training and concludes at the end of May (or beginning of June for boats that qualify for Youth Nationals).
  • Summer Season:  We offer various competitive and technical programs mid-June through the beginning of August such as Competitive, Novice (non-racing) and Learn-to-Row. 
  • Fall Season:  Mid-September through mid-November.  

Program Fees

SJRC program fees include race entry fees and boat transportation to local events.  There are additional costs for athletes who travel to away regattas which vary depending on the distance and are not included in the seasonal program fee structure.  

Additional Expenses may include:
(i) Racing uniform (uni) approximately $80.00.  Optional SJRC apparel will be available at an additional cost but only the racing uni is required. 

(ii) Food contributions to stock the food tent/chuck wagon to feed the team during local regattas.  

(iii) Travel expenses such as, but not limited to, airfare, ground transportation, accommodations, meals, for away regattas for select crews attending specific regattas such as Youth Nationals (location varies) during the Spring Season; Club/Summer Nationals (location varies) and Canadian Henley (Ontario) during the Summer Season; and the Head of the Charles (Boston) and Head of the Hooch (Chattanooga) during the Fall Season. 

Please be aware of season due dates for program payments and installments.  All program fees must be paid prior to participating in any regattas.  Limited financial scholarships may be available to athletes experiencing difficulties paying program fees, please contact us for a scholarship form prior to the start of a season.

Refunds:  There will be no refunds unless a sickness or injury occurs. Refunds must be promptly requested by contacting SJRC via email here. A $50.00 processing fee will be applied.  If a program is cancelled by SJRC, full refunds will be issued.
